Job Description

Essential Job Functions:
  • Connect, establish, and maintain relationships with residents in support of their spiritual lives.
  • Responsible for conducting and documenting timely spiritual assessments on residents as appropriate. 
  • Initiate spiritual care plan as needed and document progress in the electronic health record.
  • Organize worship services, life celebrations and religious holiday programs in creative and ecumenical ways.
  • Create, and set up spiritual care programs, and communicate scheduled times with Life Enrichment for inclusion in monthly calendar.
  • Connect, establish, and maintain relationships with local spiritual organizations, and their corresponding leaders.
  • Recruit and support volunteers who host spiritual care programs with recommended content and needed materials.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Critical Skills:

  • Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
  • Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public. 
  • Capable of working with and around ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility. 
  • Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
  • Bachelor's Degree and Graduate Level Theological Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, spiritual direction or counseling setting. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prefer previous work experience with the aging population.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have any direct reports or supervisory requirements. 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.

Physical Requirements -  The Physical activities of this position involve:

  • Moves material’s weighing up to 50 pounds (i.e. wheelchair)
  • Stationary position - Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods (50% of the time)
  • Alternating between standing and sitting

Cognitive Requirements - The Cognitive activities with or without prosthetics of this position are:

  • Executes tasks independently
  • Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively
  • General commuter literacy

Environmental Requirements - An individual in this position may be exposed to:

  • Ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment

Other Requirements - 

  • Travel off-site 10% of the time
